I grew up in the Bronx too but lived with cousins some summers and often
went to babysit in Alley Pond Park apts. I live in Brooklyn now but Howard
Beach is three short exits away.....we're also apt hunting and are checking
out Lindwnwood Linden-something where apts are reasonable...garden type.
Our family get togethers were in Queens and birthdays to Jahn's near or
on Jamaica Ave. Queens has the reputation as being one of the most diverse
communities in the country and that makes it pretty exciting. Not sure how
diverse it was back in the 50's and early 60's.
