Veteran Jackson Heights Restaurant Closes

The Feb. 5th NY Times reports this sad news:

"A doubling of its rent is causing Cavalier Restaurant and Lounge in Jackson Heights to close. Its many regulars wonder where they will go".

The article went on to say that the 37th Ave. restaurant opened in 1950!

This was in "my" era of growing up in Jackson Heights and I'm sad to see this part of JH heritage join the Continental, the Green Lodge, Budd's, Lizzie Flynn's and the Colony & Boulevard Theatres in oblivion.

Anybody have some thoughts on the Cavalier?
